Well, to start at the
beginning, I grew up in Carlsbad, Calif., as one of five siblings and
loved it. My mom, brothers and sisters are five of my closest and
dearest friends. In high-school I was invited to church with a friend
and after a year of attending youth group and church I gave my life to
Christ. Life hasn’t bee the same since.

I went to Westmont College, in Santa Barbara where I truly
made my faith my own and while exploring God’s word I explored His
world. My sophomore year in college God decided to rock my world with
an opportunity to spend a semester in Tanzania. I never thought I would
ever go to Africa, but all the sudden He had this clear path laid out
for me, all I could do was follow it. That semester changed my life
dramatically; I realized there is more than just suburbia, and God was
going to use me abroad. That was when I fell in love with the place.

Before leaving I was planning my next trip back, and as soon
as I could I was setting up a trip for students to join me for 6 weeks
in the following summer. Our time was spent with translators and youth
at camp, and we faced trial after trial, together. That was where I
fell in love with the people.

Shortly after returning I was headed out of the country
again for a second semester abroad traveling with Westmont students and
professors to travel all over Europe for 4 moths. My time spent in
Eastern Europe and Turkey showed me how the same people I fell in love
with in TZ were all over the world, in every nation and speaking every
tongue.

After graduation I was blessed to have a great job at my alma
mater doing publicity for the school. I felt a true peace about God
wanting me to be there, but before long I began to feel restless,
leaving the country and serving people and learning from them was on my
heart. I began to search for opportunities, but limited myself to East
Africa and other “safe options.” Then twice in two weeks two unrelated
people in my life brought the World Race to my attention.

My reaction was that this was made for me! I learned more and
found things that not only sounded exactly like what I imagined myself
doing, but also things that challenged me, things that would push me to
depend on God and my teammates. I knew this was what God wanted me to
do and I applied and here I am, preparing to run the race. I am really
looking forward to the next ten months as I see just how God will mold
me into the person he has for the race. To my friends and family (and
others reading this) thank you for joining with me on the race, I will
need each of you and will not take for granted all you have taught me
already. To God be the glory.
